Magpul CTR Carbine Stock, Milspec Diameter
Simple, reliable & iconic Mil-Spec stock
The Magpul CTR (Compact/Type Restricted) – Mil-Spec model is a drop-in replacement buttstock for AR15 / M16 carbines using Mil-Spec sized receiver extension tubes. Designed for light, fast action, the streamlined A-frame profile avoids snagging and shields the release latch to prevent accidental activation.
The CTR also features a supplemental friction lock system that minimizes excessive stock movement for enhanced weapon stability* and an ambidextrous QD sling mount that will accept any push-button sling swivel. The Mil-Spec model includes a standard 0.3″ thick rubber butt-pad, which provides positive shoulder purchase to prevent slippage even with body armor or modular gear.
Made in the USA
- Mounts on Mil-Spec sized carbine receiver extension tube (not included) from manufacturers such as Colt, Armalite, S&W, LMT, and others
- Shielded release latch prevents snagging and accidental operation while the supplemental friction lock minimizes accuracy-robbing wobble*
- Sloping cheek weld combines a slim profile with user comfort
- Premium chrome-silicon lock spring provides positive locking and long life
- Removable 0.3″ Rubber Butt-Pad offers an anti-slip surface and increases impact protection

Replaces the Magpul MOE stock that came on my SR-15 which rattled like maraca. The CTR stock has a tighter fit than the MOW but even with the friction lock is still a little loose. This is probably more a KAC buffer tube issue than a Magpul issue. I am satisfied with the stock thus far.
Rooftop is fast as always.

Magpul quality like you’d expect.
Heads up, got this with the intent to utilize the Arisaka Defense stock adapter and it did not go so smooth. Seems like Magpul is just doing the threads direct into the plastic, no more metal thread insert; seems like the screws are too big for the stock adapter so just need to do a lil bzzz bzzz with Mr. Drill.

I stayed away from this stock for a while because I do not like how it looks. But can’t deny its functionality.
I was using B5 Bravo stock which had a larger cheek weld, though it’s comfortable, the larger cheek weld pushed my head in such a way that I can’t see my red dot in the center of the glass. The red dot would always be slightly off center and to compensate for that I either had to slightly canted my rifle or tilted my head.
With the CTR having slimmer cheek weld, I no longer have this issue.

I have switched over to the CRT stock. Works well, priced right, and available.
