LMT MARS-L Forged Complete Ambidextrous Lower Receiver
The Lewis Machine and Tool MARS-L complete lower receiver is an excellent starting point for a hard-use rifle.
The LMT® Modular Ambidextrous Rifle System (MARS®) lower receiver offers ambidextrous controls to include: selector, magazine release and bolt catch and release. An enhanced flared magazine well and ambidextrous magazine and bolt catch mechanisms are machined directly into the receiver and have been designed to function as ergonomically as possible.
This lower receiver is designed with several unique LMT® features to further enhance its durability and versatility. These features are: Two-stage trigger group, winter trigger guard, ergo grip, QD endplate, and SOPMOD buttstock.

Very nice lower. Everything is tight and looks well made. I did have some binding or something catching on the magazine release. My gunsmith found it was the left side of the ambi release and replaced it. Shouldn’t have that issue when spending this much. I would say the finish is almost satin, possibly more flat of a finish than many uppers, but I still think it looks good, just something to note. The grip and trigger were awful, however the stock is very nice. Overall satisfied and would recommend.

I just really wanted a specwar style rifle… It’s extremely hard to source (i live in a horrible state, if not the worst) , LMT sent me here… Rooftop Defense has been completely amazing to work with.. Solid fit and finish. SOPMOD is sweet. Will be a bit before finishing out to test. 5 stars is for the best retailer in the business. Appreciate the meal and sticker, but really appreciate the pocket Constitution. What an outstanding idea everyone should be doing! I’ll start passing them out to the public school teachers after everyone else gets one. Maybe then they’ll start adhering to page 46 and there will be a resurgence with our youth before it’s far too late.

I swapped my defender lower out for this. It’s top notch. The fit and finish are great.
The 2 stage trigger is much more crisp than LMT’s regular milspec trigger.
The updated grip feels as good or better than the ergo grip. I was a fan of it, but to each his own. It has a storage door with a screw in it instead of a rubber plug like the old ergo grip had.
The left side mag release sweeps down instead of back like I’m used to on my lwrc lower. It’ll take some getting used to, but I have no qualms with it so far.
The sopmod stock feels like every other sopmod stock, but it has the LMT logo so of course it’s better. I don’t make the rules.
Safety selector feels good from both sides. I’ve felt some that would hang up a little, almost like they had sharp edges or something.
If you’re willing to spend a grand on a lower receiver, you probably know what you’re getting into. This is a quality part from the most innovative company in the industry.
Make sure you buy from rooftop defense. They were a pleasure to deal with and I’ll always check their site first when I need something 😉
