This light package contains a PLHv2-light head, 18650 handheld body and tail cap. It also includes one Modlite 3500mAh 18650 battery and a XTAR MC2 charger. While lumen output with this light is similar to the Surefire® M600DF head, the throw is much better suited to allow PID (Positive ID) at greater distances at more than three times the amount throw than the M600DF. This light is a large step forward from the PLHv1 light. Lumen output is about the same but throw is greatly improved. It is the best balance of flood and throw available.

We recommend the Modlite 18650 high drain cells which can be found here. Runtime is about 75 minutes with the supplied 18650 cells. Runtime and output on two CR123A cells is reduced.

So close to my perfect EDC light.
The build quality is amazing. It’s a very premium looking and feeling light. The FDE colorway has a champagne tone to it that looks super clean. The beam is an excellent blend of high candela and usable flood. I don’t like color temperatures that are too “cool” and this is a nice neutral to slightly cool beam.
The tail cap is the best I’ve used as far as how it’s designed. The switch is recessed enough to prevent pocket NDs and allow you to stand the light up on a flat surface, but is also accessible enough to activate without having to bend your thumb too far forward. Straight forward click activation with high/low logic.
The overall size footprint is very good for this powerful of a 18650 light. After a minute you’ll forget it’s in your pocket.
High mode: amazing for self defense and situations where you just need to punch through the darkness. Very good flood and an overall balanced beam.
“Low” mode: this isn’t really a “low” mode to my eyes. It looks more like 50-60% of the high output. This mode excels in casual outdoor needs or situations where you want a blend of good runtime and ample lighting. If you’re a hiker – stop reading and buy this light right now.
The cons: there is no real low mode on this light. For situations like trying not to wake up my wife at night or working on something small up close it’s very bright even on the lower setting. If this light had a true low or moonlight mode it would be perfect. That being said, we all have phone flashlights that can accomplish this so it’s really not the biggest deal.
This is the best do-it-all light I’ve tried for both defensive and EDC use. Get it. You won’t regret it.
