Modlite OKW-18650 DF Dual Fuel Light Package, Black

The OKW is designed to punch through photonic barriers and extend one’s visual range

This light package contains a OKW light head, 18650 body and 18650 battery (also charger and tail cap pending options selected). Lumen output with a single 18650 cell is 680 lumens and 69,000 candela giving it throw 400% greater than the Surefire M600DF. This light is also compatible for use with two CR123A cells.  Output with CR123As will be slightly reduced. This light is best suited for situations where extreme throw and ability to see thru photonic barriers is necessary.

If you’re on the fence about which light head to purchase we recommend the PLHv2 light package which is available here.

I have OKWs on all of my long guns, they are amazing! Rooftop Defense has the best prices on these with free shipping too!!!

  2. Joe Witt (verified owner)

Went with OKW for primary use as country weapon light. This light probably throws like 200 yards at least. Perfect identification on a raccoon at 80 yards with the OKW. Plan to get the other PLHv2 at some point for closer engagements. RD is always great with that #sweatshop speed.

    Compared to a CD OWL,

    the throw? phenomenally better
the spread? as much as the OWL
realestate taken up? right up to the handguard with an arisaka offset mount

Overall its great, it feels good, it looks good, it mounts great, it performs great, nothing but good things to say, if youre considering it, just order the thing, you wont be disappointed.

    I ordered the PLHv2, and here’s what I’ve learned.
This thing lights up the area like the second coming of Jesus.

Bottom Line Up Front, if an ACOG user:
While that is a good thing in many instances, be advised that it is not the greatest of finds on a weapon that is utilized with a standard ACOG 4×32 or 3×30 optic.
I had specifically *not* ordered the OKW because of the reports for how mind-blowingly bright it was, especially given the ACOG(s) I may pair it with.
Well, even the PLHv2 overpowers a standard ACOG that does not utilize a battery powered illumination source. If using an ACOG, re-eval your setup.

The Good News: If you are running an Aimpoint PRO/COMP M4, an EoTech 512/similar, or a LPVO with illumination, then this thing is where it’s at.
Running a Sig Tango6 1-6x, for instance, I can see very far and the dot can be dialed up unobtrusively yet effectively enough to compensate for the brightness.
In fact, with any natively battery powered illuminated optic, magnified or not, I would say the OKW would still be a great option as well depending upon your local or perceived engagement distance needs.
*Tip: Use the batteries they suggest. Don’t cheap out on sub-par or non-recommended power sources.

So, which one – PLHv2, or OKW?
Both. Just get both. Toss on a low profile mount, pair each with the right optic and weapon for your needs, and get to work.
Buy once, cry once. These things are solid.

The OKW fills a solid need in a light that punches through the dark on those situations where distance is pushing your lesser lamps to past usefulness. Modlite’s modular platform allows the use of heads on WML and handheld bodies. Using the modular body allows batteries to be used in either WML or handheld. All the lumens!!
