Geissele Automatics GFR Mod 1 Ambidextrous RECCE Rifle, 16″ 6mm ARC, Black

The Geissele Freedom Rifle (GFR) Ambidextrous RECCE is built for serious use and when performance matters most.

The GFR provides the lightweight agility of a small-frame platform while delivering a lot of the performance associated with large-frame AR10s. The GFR is built around the balance of capability and efficiency that 6mm ARC provides while preserving flawless reliability from Geissele’s Super Duty family.

It provides the many benefits of 6mm ARC, including downrange energy, a flat trajectory and ballistic coefficient without many of the issues that plague many lesser 6mm ARC rifles.

The GFR RECCE Mod 1 introduces fully ambidextrous controls onto the lower receiver. Complete with an ambidextrous magazine release and an ambidextrous bolt catch and release under the ejection port.

Each rifle is made with Geissele’s cold-hammer forged and chrome-lined barrels to ensure outstanding precision and durability. Each barrel is paired with a Reliability Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group and a proper 6mm ARC bolt to provide reliability and a long service life. To top it off, the GFR’s utilize Geissele’s patented 3-port Phased Array gas system to siphon off more gas from three separate gas ports to readily provide ample gas while significantly reducing the recoil impulse felt by the shooter.

The GFR is made to exceed the demands of many applications and use cases. The RECCE Mod 1 is the standard for 6mm ARC precision and performance.

Each rifle comes with one 8-round Geissele ICM magazine.

For $2500 bucks, this is the way to go for guys wanting to get into ARC. You could build a nice setup for less, but I believe the changes Geissele made to the system itself are worth a little extra coin. Having a factory ARC option that runs perfectly out of the box is a great thing for dudes who want a turnkey system with no troubleshooting. With factory 108’s, mine is truly sub MOA. Repeatable half-minute to 3/4 minute 5-shot groups and 10-shot groups right at and sometimes under an inch. For not being a match barrel, that is more than acceptable to me. The only knocks against it are that the included stock is hot garbage, and it only comes with 1 magazine. Not only is the stock ugly as sin, it legitimately took me using a pry bar with a vise to remove it, that’s how tightly mine was fit to the buffer tube. Only including 1 8-round magazine with this is also ridiculous. Geissele mags are already hard enough to find and are expensive compared to other ARC mags. It should at least come with 3 magazines. If you want a no-fuss setup, this is the way to go. Shoutout to Rooftop for being the best shop in the game. I ordered at 11 am and had shipping info by 3 pm.

After getting into a home-brew 6 ARC and also knowing how good the Geissele CHF barrels can shoot, the GFR intrigued me. The upper/barrel extension/bolt are all proprietary and have feed every single round flawlessly in this gun. With Hornady 105gr Black, I’m averaging about 1 MOA with the worst so far for a 10-shot group being 1.15 and the best about 0.85moa. External ballistics at distance, my trajectory is the exact same drop/data as a 18″ 308 bolt gun shooting 175gr SMK. For an easy, NO-BS 6ARC entrant that runs properly right out of the box and should last a long time and isn’t a boat anchor, this thing is very appealing. Biggest knocks against it I have would be the buttstock (loose fit and very mediocre compared to the other parts on the gun) and the fact that they attach the Huxwrx with an absurd amount of what appears to be red thread locker and torque. That and the fact that it ships with a single 8-rounder for the price cost it a star.
