An excellent receiver set with a very well-toleranced fit. EWS is kind of a sleeper in terms of quality – no billboard on the side of the lower, just a tasteful small logo and the best machining you could hope for. As for Rooftop – fast shipping, and they gave me a free packet of ramen with my purchase. Can’t beat it!

I didn’t buy my few EWS stuff off of Rooftop, but seeing only 1 review here I thought I’d pitch in for the questioning buyer. I was turned on to EWS after talking to the owner of Thousand Ships and they are the real deal. The owner worked for a lot of the other premier AR manufacturers, IE military contracts like the LMT’s of the world, before starting EWS. First, he lives in Texas so you know he’s at least doing something right.. lol, jk, kind of. But his products are great stuff, not always the shiniest or fanciest stuff, but fancy doesn’t win in a gun fight; reliable, bullet proof, made to the umpppteeenth level type stuff helps you do that.
Besides great products, it’s teir 1 service. I called EWS a while back trying to buy a new hand-guard after diligently trying to destroy the one I had. I could quickly tell it was not an employee bc of how much he cared and then learned it was the owner. I immediately started throwing down questions like $1’s at a club. He gave me a ton of great info on all sorts of AR stuff and then after pulling it out of him, he regaled me with a few colorful stories when he was w other top tier owners in his days of yesteryear… I love that on top of the gun community being the best kind of people him, calling companies and the owner picks up the phone at the likes of CMT, EWS, Driven Arms, D Wilson, and even Rooftop, but at the end of the day, those owners are all just guys being guys, enjoying the fun times when they can, and working hard at their craft the next day. Our convo finally got back to the handguard and I told him I f’ed it up, how can I buy a new one in the 11.5” size” – the owner did a “hmm,, really? You actually messed up my handguard, Can you send some pictures, I’d like to see it.” I said “no this is on me, I want to buy one”- he said “If it’s really messed up from legit use, I’ll replace it.” Goes on to explain he custom designed that handguard himself to be reinforced at xyz points and basically be indestructible but light as hell”. I looked the handguard back over and although ugly as gf’s mom from rough times in the field and bad paint jobs, it was structurally almost perfect, not a real bend or dent anywhere. I was astonished.
TL DR-1. EWS = great military contract level stuff. 2. The Gun (ARs) community is hands down one on the best communities in the country. From newbies to owners, it’s full of great, sincere people that will help out stranger and ask nothing in return. Remember that if you read this bc you represent the rest of us in a nation set on destroying this community.

Have not yet built it, so I cannot comment on durability, however, from inspecting it over at my FFL when it came in for a long time I can attest it’s one of the nicest receivers I have felt in a while. The surface felt good in the hand, couldn’t find and burring of blemishes in any way, it just felt trustworthy. I have built MANY rifles now and usually use Aero but this time wanted to try something different. Don’t think I went wrong!
