First of all – Rooftop Defense’s customer service is EXCELLENT! I received a light that was having issues (no fault of Rooftop) and Sol was very responsive. He was able to resolve the issue quickly and took care of me. I’ll be doing as much business with Rooftop Defense as my wife will tolerate.
As for the Surefire: It’s an awesome do-it-all flashlight. I wanted something that had good EDC utility but also could serve as a viable defensive tool when I can’t carry.
The high mode is insanely bright in the hotspot and the flood is way better than it seems on YouTube videos. If lighting up in a house, the flood will allow you to see what’s going on around you perfectly fine.
The low mode is great for low light situations indoors and small tasks, but is a little weak for casual outdoor use. If you utilize a “medium” mode on your EDC light, you’ll find yourself missing that feature with the Surefire EDC2-DFT.
I work construction and this light has enough candela to use as a pointer when on the job site which is pretty nice. It’s a tad bulky in the pocket but nothing crazy for a 18650 light. I forget it’s there after a few minutes in my pocket.
Overall it’s the king if you just care about raw candela, and it’s decently usable for EDC / admin uses.
